Our Brethren traditions around the celebration of communion have their roots in the last supper of Jesus, and the last supper has its roots in the Jewish Passover meal.

On Palm Sunday this year, PSBC will celebrate communion in the context of a modified Passover Meal. You will be astonished at the ways Christ is foreshadowed in the Passover, and it will enrich your celebration of communion for the rest of your life. This will start at 5:00 pm in the Family Life Center.

But it will take some intentional preparation on your part. We will actually share an entire Passover Meal as we walk our way through a Messianic Passover. Seating will be by “family” tables. Families can consist of anyone you want to invite. Each family will reserve a table and will prepare the table the afternoon of the Seder. (Instructions will be given well in advance of what you will need to bring for table linens, plates, glasses, etc.) You will also prepare the food of the Passover at home and bring it with you to the meal. (Actual recipes will be given in advance.) We will experience each element of the Seder with Pastor Bill leading from the head table and each family leader carrying out the traditions at their table. We will sing, play the Seder games, ask and answer the Seder questions, eat the Seder meal, and, because communion has its roots in the Passover Meal, this experience will include all the elements of the love feast, foot washing and the Eucharist.

This is a spiritual experience together that you don’t want to miss! Watch future bulletins for more information and plan to pick up your packet of hosting instructions around the beginning of March.
