Ministry Through Sports

Sports provides opportunities for staying healthy, having fun and connecting with others.

Our Family Life Center gym is the perfect place for basketball, volleyball and a variety of other sports, both scheduled and spontaneous, church-related or community-based. If you're an athlete, consider using your gift as a way to reach out to others and invite them into the PSBC community by reserving the gym for a one-time or recurring sports event. (Use of the gym is free to church members who are using it for ministry or outreach purposes.)

To find out which nights are available and schedule a timeslot, call Sherry Bryant at (419)289-0224.

See below and to the right for a listing of ongoing sports ministries:

Co-Ed Softball

We have a church-league softball team every summer. If you'd like to be a part of this team, please contact Rod Gray at (419)962-4741.

Co-Ed Volleyball

Church Volleyball League runs October - March and is played every Monday night. Game Times are either 6, 6:45, 7:30 or 8:15 pm. Team members must be 9th grade or older. The games are played at PSBC's Family Life Center gym, Trinity Lutheran Jack's Place (on Center Street) or Peace Lutheran's gym (on Smith Road). Double elimination tournaments begin in March. If interested in signing up, call the church office.

Men's Basketball

All men, both PSBCers and non-members, are invited to play basketball on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 6-7 in the gym. For more information, contact Tim Rowsey at trowsey(at)whitcomb.com, or just show up and bring a friend.

Dan Phillip gets serious during our annual UnBlock Party dodgeball tourney.

Young Adult Sports

Have some fun. Sweat a little. Enjoy some healthy competition. Get into co-ed volleyball on Wednesday nights from 8:00 to 10:00 or guys' late-night basketball on Thursdays from 10:00 to midnight each week. Both of these lightly organized events are in the Park Street Church gym and require no sign-up. Just come ready to play.

These two sporting events are for young adults, ages 18-30, only and are part of our Luminus Network (www.luminusnetwork.com). For more information about basketball, contact Glen Mercer at gmercer(at)ashland.edu. For volleyball, contact Josh Chandler at chandler810(at)yahoo.com.

Open Gym for Walkers

If you enjoy walking, feel free to use our gym every weekday morning from 7:30 to 10 am. Come and bring friends!
