About Jason

I am a journeyer for Christ. I ramble, I go on tangents and I rarely stay on topic for too long. Some have even described my life as a tangent in the thought of God. I live in Ashland, Ohio with my lovely wife, Allison Rae. Together, we are in the process of raising two ungraceful mutts, Lucky (a Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix) and Spencer (a Labrador/Terrier mix).

My wife is a graphic designer for Red Red Design here in Ashland. I serve in ministry alongside youth and young adults at Park Street Brethren Church. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Ashland University in 2004 with majors in Religion and Ethics and a minor in Psychology. My wife also graduated from Ashland University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Commercial Design. She spent a year at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. In June 2008, I received my Master of Divinity (I have no idea what the title of the degree means) from Ashland Theological Seminary.

Originally from McGaheysville (pronounced Mc-Gakees-Vil), VA, I moved to Ashland in 2001 for schooling purposes. Listen to me speak for a little while and through my twang, odd pronunciation of key words, and quick, slurry speech, you'll know I'm from somewhere other than Ashland.

I am seeking the Lord's will about further education and looking to the future. I am not an optimist but would call myself a hopeful person. I believe God is up to something in the world and in the context in which I serve. Although I'm not keenly aware of all His details, I wait hopefully for His creative movement to break into our world and remind us of His presence.

As of currently, I’ve becomed obsessed with windmills. I believe they are a perfect metaphor for the journey of faith and worship. A friend of mine told me that windmills represent humanity’s ingenuity and God’s raw power meeting. Out of this meeting comes creative authority and energy. I desperately want my life to be like a windmill. I want to find my calling, identity, and life satisfaction in the direction of God’s movement.

Thanks for journeying with me through the rambling and tangents that is this blog. I hope that you and I can enter into a conversation and find a generative friendship that will manifest Christ to each other. Welcome to Windmills!
