Angry Birds
Knocking Down the Walls that Keep GOD out!
"Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends." - Revelation 3:20
Winter Retreat has come and gone, and we had an awesome time! We spent time playing games, eating delicious food, worshipping together, growing in small groups, and learning about the walls that keep us from experiencing the fullness of life with God - performance, shame, selfishness, and complacency. Our anxiety over our performance keeps us busy and striving, working to attain life rather than receive it from God (Luke 9:23-25). Our submission to shame keeps us hiding from the freedom and grace that Christ desires to lavish on us, calling us sons and daughters of the Most High God (Romans 8:14-16). Our tendency towards selfishness prevents us from seeing the beauty in that which is bigger and better than ourselves (1 Timothy 6:17-19). Finally, our surrender to complacency keeps us blinded from attaining the true will that God has for our lives (Hebrews 6:9-12).
So having named the walls that keep us from God, there is only one response...tear down the walls! The tools necessary to do so are readily available. Lob up the angry birds of confession and repentance and watch the walls tumble! When we name our sin, the foundations of the walls become shaky and the powerful wind of the Holy Spirit is quick to knock them down in a fury. When we repent and walk towards God's face, there is no longer anything standing in the way between us and Him, for Christ has already made the way for us!
Thanks for all those who came out to be a part of this weekend! Can't wait to see everyone again at summer camp!
