Lost Creek, KY Mission Trip Report
Thanks to all of those who supported us on our mission trip down to Lost Creek, KY to serve the Riverside Christian School this year! We were able to accomplish a ton of projects while we were there alongside youth from 5 Stones and Gretna Brethren Church (Check out the list below). But first, I want to share with you a few reasons why this trip was particularly impactful this year:
Serving our friends. Earlier this summer (June 16-20), a group of students from Riverside actually came on their first ever mission trip up here to Ashland, OH to serve Pumphouse ministries while they stayed here at Park Street Brethren Church. So as our team travelled down to KY, we were not simply serving strangers - we had the opportunity to experience mutual service with our brothers and sisters from another state. Neat, huh!? It's almost as if we each had unique talents, abilities, and availability to take care of one another as the body of Christ!
Serving with friends. Rather than simply taking Park Street youth, our team felt led in prayer to serve in partnership with two of our close Brethren neighbors, 5 Stones (just down the street) and Gretna Brethren Church in Bellefontaine, OH. Serving there together was like a family reunion of sorts, all centered around love for our brothers and sisters in KY.
A gift of helps. Our work projects, though strenuous, felt so rewarding knowing that we were laying the groundwork to help missionary teachers who will continue to sow seeds of blessing into students. All of the faculty at Riverside serve there as missionaries on sparse wages, and much of the work that needs done around the school is beyond their capacity. As such, they rely on teams like ours to come in and help them out throughout the year. Please continue to pray for more workers to support this amazing ministry!
